As an artist, you have to be 100% dependable
I know that you’ve been songwriting, producing, and performing for a while now. What was it that sparked your passion for music?
I’ve been in cover bands and was performing with Ferrari and Friends for a lot of my life. Eventually, I got burnt out and decided to take a break from touring. That’s when Pepper Jay recommended that I start writing and producing my own music.
You recently released the single,“My Heart Can’t Breathe,” which is a precursor to an album dropping in January. Can you tell us a little bit about the album and the inspiration behind it?
It hurt heart my heart when I saw an old photo of someone I cared for. Out of this sadness came, “My Heart Can’t Breathe.”
The new album is very interesting, it’s a collection and not necessarily one theme. It is more pop themed than it is country and each song is very different from the other.
You received the best peace song of the year in 2020. Did you expect this or what went through your head when you heard that you received this award?
I was invited to play at the gala which was held in California. While I was playing my set, I looked over and was shocked when I saw a large trophy that was the award I was to receive.
You’re not only a singer/songwriter, but also an author. Tell us about your book, Acting with your eyes? What was the inspiration behind the book?
I used to teach acting techniques and taught it to some of my friends. People often don’t know what to do when it comes to performing and acting. So, I decided to turn what I taught into a book which is about eye movements and its importance in acting.
How do you balance all the roles that you have?
As an artist, you have to be 100% dependable. You are responsible and accountable for your own career.
Do you have a statement you’d like to add?
It’s a fun journey and its unexpected. You never quite know what will happen next which is what makes it an exciting one.
Ferrari's has another song releasing off the album-to-come in December.
