On Sunday January 5, Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny, born Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, released his newest album Debi Tirar Mas Fotos. The album's title translates to "I should have taken more photos" a statement that showcases themes of introspection and relatablilty. Here, he explores varying genres like salsa, modern reggaeton, and house music while simaltanously singing about emotional themes of nostalgia and self-reflection.
Benito continues to share his appreciation for his latin roots as he delves into an all new era, deviating from his previous hip hop style, and finding a different side of himself. Although this new exploration has come as a surprise to some fans it's definitley a welcomed one, as we all can relate to entering our different eras and trying out something new.
He prides himself on always being honest with his fans and sharing personal stories through his music, constantly revealing his growth and evolution as a global artist. On this album he wanted to communicate his feelings on more serious themes, such as the challenges Puerto Rico is facing, and related it as an analogy to a rocky romantic relationship. Comparing this issue and other topics to something listeners would understand, he is able to share his perspective to a wide audience. Benito describes his music as a love letter to his homeland, a sentiment that can be felt through a blend of visual storytelling and a medly of meaningful lyrics in Debi Tirar Mas Fotos.
Fans anticipated collaborations on this ablum and Bad Bunny did not disappoint, offering songs featuring Omar Courtz, Dei V, and Los Planeros de la Cresta. Along with these artists, Bad Bunny is able to show us varying elements that make up Latin music.
